If you want to see the Falls up close, the going on one of the Maid of the Mist boats is the way to do it! I did it years ago and it was lots of fun. Blue raincoats provided!
When you're up above watching, the noise of the crowds is dulled by the roaring sound of the water thundering over the Falls.
