One of the most interesting visits made during the visit to Puerto Rico was to the Cock Fighting ring. Just about a block from the hotel and a paltry spectator fee later I was in. This was a man's world no women here other than the servers. A language all it's own and as I watched the man next to me explained the rules. The roosters do not fight to the death, but after one decides it will not fight, there is a one minute timer that starts. As soon as it ticks down the match is ended. Fascinating, but brutal at times. As you can see here the intensity of the action is high.

For me this was a highlight of my visit from the standpoint of recording an event I had never experienced. I realized afterwards that I most enjoy my chickens, quietly sitting on a plate, breaded and fried.
