Jon is one of my oldest friends. I think we were 10-11 years old when we met through little league, maybe even a year younger. Not only did Jon and I get along great, but so did our folks. Our families spent a LOT of time together.

Over time, like so many friends do, we lost touch. College, career, moves...typical growing up stuff. But through the miracle of modern social networking on the interwebs, we've reconnected and as much as we've both changed, we still have a lot in common.

Recently, Jon pointed out that I have largely ignored the breweries in his area of the country. And when I told him I'd never even heard of one of them, he took it upon himself to make sure I got a taste.

I'm glad he did!

Last night, I poured myself a Deschutes Brewery Mirror Pond Pale Ale. I was impressed and am looking forward to tasting the rest of them.

If you happen to travel west and see Deschutes on tap somewhere, or happen to be somewhere you can grab a bottle, do it. You won't regret it!
