DSC_0335: Sunset on Christmas Day 2011 on my family's farm in Gaspereau in Nova Scotia's Annapolis Valley. Not far from Wolfville.
At the peak of the farm's working years (25+ years ago) many varieties of apples, pears, plums, cherries, grapes, and even peaches were grown here on the south-facing slopes.
In bygone times, the Annapolis Valley was sometimes known as "the apple orchard of the British Empire".
While farms still grow apples in the Valley, many orchards - especially those with southern exposure and good drainage are being converted to vineyards. In fact, just a few minutes away from this spot shown are 5 vineyards.
Here, the snow laden trees and sunset combined caught my eye.
